Trillium - Kitchen and Bath Renovation
Aging in place is what we all aspire to. As empty nesters, ready to enjoy retirement, this couple knew it was time to remodel, keeping life simple, and on one floor.
To begin, we removed two dividing walls that cut the kitchen off from the rest of the dining and family areas. The resulting space allowed for a generous island, offering both casual seating, and much needed prep space.
Open concept, not only allows the cook to be a part of the conversation, it makes a small home seem grand.
New engineered flooring throughout offers an easy to clean solution, much more practical than the broadloom that had been there for years. A new stairwell with iron spinals, modern newel posts, and matching treads, open up the entry to the main floor, adding a much needed update from the pony wall that was. Custom kitchen cabinetry, bathroom cabinetry as well as principle bedroom built-ins, offer all the storage that was lacking in the original interior. We kept the cabinetry and walls throughout one colour. This not only unifies and softens the space, it also enlarges it. Glass and porcelain tiles, a new 5’ tub and walk-in shower refresh the bathroom that functions as the ensuite, main bath and powder room. All new furniture throughout, including swivel counter stools, finish this project to a level everyone can enjoy, cats included.
It was a pleasure renewing this home. I know it will be enjoyed for many years to come.
