Refurbishing and Decorating

Refurbishing what you have is often more desirable then a complete renovation. The client was happy with the cabinet quality and configuration in the kitchen, but had never been satisfied with the original stain colour the builder had chosen. We sprayed the cabinet boxes on site with an industrial paint which dries to a hard factory like finish. The drawers and doors were removed to be sprayed off site then reinstalled with new hardware. The introduction of all new light fixtures, new table, chairs, and mirrored bar, complete the update, achieving a current look, without the expense of a complete tear out.

The main colour, Dufferin Terrace, was used throughout the entire main floor, with the exception of the bathrooms and bedrooms. This unifies the spacious bungalow, enhancing the open concept plan, accentuating the scale of the ceilings and of each area, while creating a modern flow. All new furnishings followed, including a pop-up large screen console. The 52” square coffee table services the pair of matching sofas, while bridging the width of the room and creating a conversation area. The artwork is large scale and diverse. The same nylon/silk blended carpets in the living room was repeated in the entry hall as all three are seen at a glance. Two occasional chairs with show wood lattice backs greet you as you enter the living room. The matching pair of chairs with ottoman at the fireplace offer an intimate evening space or extended seating for family get togethers. Two matching floor lamps offer a sculptural feature as well as ambient lighting. A new oversized light in the dining area is paired with a smaller hall fixture in the same finishes. The new front door designed by myself and Doorways Inc. of Burlington, finish the update.
